Anti Hydro Sell Off Lobby group were received by a group vocal concerned citizens in Brockville

Asking why is their voice not being heard in Toronto

Last Night November 12 attended an anti sell off hydro meeting in Brockville

The evening started off with an introduction by Steve Clark MPP explaining what he was doing and why he was attending (this introduction went on for some five minutes while he introduced various folks in audience etc etc.) After the introductions he made way for a member of ‘Hydro One Not for Sale’ “Rhonda Fergusson“

Rhonda proceeded to explain what the purpose of the movement was and what they done to bring to attention to the Premier of Ontario , and others what hardship the average household was going through and will continue to go through, as Hydro price structure was only going to increase. There seemed to be, to put it mildly a lot of discontent in the audience when this person was speaking. There was NO doubt people were at boiling point with lack of response from the powers that be.

Next to speak was “Todd Smith“ MPP. This MPP explained in great detail how the higher prices were effecting ordinary people  A recent mother receiving a bill for one month use of electricity of a staggering $3000 ;other examples included a mention of Goodyear tire company suffering from multiple outages costing the company $6 million in lost revenue

Final speaker was “David Lundy.“ He gave an overview of the history of electricity production from Niagara Falls. The very first in Canada, the cost of 10¢ a kilowatt hour. in 1900’s price remained pegged up to late 1990’s after which time we all know what has happened

Finally it was turned over to the floor for questions. People were angry and disgusted with lack of understanding from Liberal Premier Wynne

and further the lack of interest. It was made clear that the premier had no right to do anything without going through parliament which she has completely ignored along with all financial experts whom she appointed and who have advised against the sale of Hydro One for a short term gain.

Here is a list of a few comments and suggestions. All your thoughts are most welcome:-

That the leader of the opposition should run on a platform that all the shares would be bought back at cost and hydro be brought back into public ownership after being elected.

A class action lawsuit be raised against the Premier of Ontario for being fiscally irresponsible  and her illegal and lawless actions

Consider buying power from other Provinces i.e. Quebec and Manitoba

There needed to be a referendum on having the ability to re-call on the next ballot to stop out of control politicians.

One said it sounded like Enron (the reference was lost)

One person likened her to Communist dictator and that got a cheer

Another was concerned about his own Grid tied system

A local mayor voiced concerns but pointed out they no control over the large number of solar farms that were costing us all money. They were basically stripped of their local powers in terms of having a say on solar farms coming into the area.

One said it was Agenda 21 (forcing people out rural communities in larger urban conurbations), see link below

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agenda_21

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/11/19/what-is-agenda-21-after-watching-this-you-may-not-want-to-know/

Many people voiced their concern over possible lack of long term support for rural communities, particularly when it was pointed how electricity consumers are being treated in some Eastern provinces

Finally I have included the definition of Communism

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs (French: De chacun selon ses facultés, à chacun selon ses besoins; German: Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen) is a slogan first used by Louis Blanc in 1851[1] (although an earlier version of the saying appeared in Étienne-Gabriel Morelly's The Code of Nature[2]) and popularised by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program.[3] The principle refers to free access and distribution of goods and services.[4] In the Marxist view, such an arrangement will be made possible by the abundance of goods and services that a developed communist system will produce; the idea is that, with the full development of socialism and unfettered productive forces, there will be enough to satisfy everyone's needs.[5][6]
